The Race: 2021 Tokyo Assembly Election
Friend of mine in America asked me about what the Japanese style of the election campaigns look like. So I made this short video for those who are curious about it.
This election was for the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly, which was held on 4 July 2021.
The focal issue of the election was COVID-19 control measures and the hosting of the Summer Olympics and Paralympics during the pandemic.
I was able to film many street speeches just by walking around the major stations during the election period.
If you are in Japan, you will witness the loud sound trucks everywhere around the major stations once it starts.
I do not intend to make this video for supporting any specific political party or candidate - filmed the candidates and their supporters from different political parties as much as possible.
